PDF FILES
At CQ we prefer to receive your files in PDF format. Converting your file to PDF virtually eliminates all problems dealing with files across platforms (such as from Windows machines to Macintosh). It also eliminates the problems with changing from one printer to another (these problems frequently occur with software such as WordPerfect, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Publisher.), and when created correctly eliminates the requirement of supplying the fonts that you have used in your job.
PDF is an Adobe creation, and information about it can be found on their website. Much of their software, such as PageMaker and InDesign, comes with PDF creation capabilities. If you buy Acrobat it comes with a plug-in for Microsoft Word for Windows.
If you do not own the full version of Acrobat our Web to Print software will allow you to download a printer driver that will allow you to submit your jobs in PDF format. It is as simple to use as pressing 'Print'. If you don't want to use Digital Store Front there are many free tools for creating PDF files such as the PDF995 Suite.
Job Options
If you are using the full version of Adobe Acrobat then you can download our joboptions file. When you place it in your joboptions folder (usually this is c:\program files\adobe\acrobat x\Settings on the PC or \Users\Shared\Adobe PDF x\Settings on the Macintosh) it will allow you to create a PDF file specifically formatted to leave your Colour Management unchanged, compress the graphics to a resolution for our printers and embed the fonts.
